Opinion
This is a very good petrol strimmer at a very good price. When it is in your hands it is extremely well balanced because the weight of the engine is behind you. The engine weight also gives you a little bit of a lever when you are working with it. Vibration is virtually non existent even at full throttle. Full throttle provides you with enough power for most jobs and the cord cuts through anything in it’s path. It is a very satisfying and smooth strimmer to work with.
Ryobi has this expand it all idea and we like that a lot. As well as additional tools for your strimmer there is an extended beam which can be attached to the shaft to give you about 9 feet of reach with the strimmer. This we found very useful in certain spots. Ideal actually if you are confronted with nettles or brambles.
Safety wise there are no issues of concern. The cutting heads never engage unless the power levers are fully employed. Safety for your ears though could be a concern. This strimmer does not purr and is in fact quite loud, especially at full throttle. Ear defenders are a must with this strimmer.
Using the strimmer could not be easy. Starting it is as easy as Ryobi claim and it’s good on fuel efficiency. We found that you get about 3 hours of run time from 250 ml of fuel.
Without a shoulder strap we think this strimmer can become heavy when used for a long period of time. There are mounting points for a harness so we recommend that you use one.
Finally the whole unit is compact and easy to store as well as transport it.
We like the design, the power levels and the add on attachments. This petrol strimmer will suit many and is well worth the money.
